A volcanic experience!
We are at the foot of Etna, the highest and most active volcano in Europe.
Are you interested in learning the Sicilian language and do you feel curious about the nature and cuisine of the beautiful Mediterranean island? Then you have found the right place.
Close your eyes and imagine you are sitting in the middle of an orange grove, in the shade of a tree, with the scent of orange blossom and the view of the sea…..
You can take part in the orange harvest. We will go together to explore the beauty of this island, to select the ingredients and to cook local, traditional dishes. Giovanna, a passionate cook, will accompany us.
Below there’s a first recipe that you can try at home. We know that in Sicily everything is relative. And this also applies to the kitchen, there are no exact amounts …
SICILIAN ORANGE SALAD
– Oranges (“Tarocco” variety)
– red onion
– black olives
– extra virgin olive oil
…and a little salt and pepper.
Cut the onion, remove the white peel from the oranges and cut them into long pieces. Mix all the ingredients and add the fresh basil at the end. You can add mint to make it taste fresher.
This is just a small example of what Sicilian cuisine is all about.
We also chose a very simple recipe. Once you come to Sicily, you will have the chance to get to know the Sicilian cuisine properly.
