❓ Do you provide sworn and certified translations?

Yes. I provide sworn translations and certified translations in accordance with Italian legal requirements, depending on the purpose and the authority involved.

❓ Civil Wedding or Symbolic Ceremony in Sicily: what’s the difference?

A civil wedding is legally binding and celebrated at the municipality in Italian.
A symbolic ceremony has no legal effect and can be held anywhere, in any language.
The choice depends on whether you want legal validity or full flexibility.

❓ What is the difference between an interpreter and a translator?

A translator works with written texts.
An interpreter works with spoken communication.
I provide both translation and interpreting services, with a specialization in the legal field, ensuring accuracy and consistency across written and spoken communication.

❓ What is the difference between legalization and apostille?

Legalization is a formal procedure that certifies the authenticity of a public document for use in another country.
It usually involves multiple authorities, such as ministries and consulates.
An apostille is a simplified form of legalization introduced by the Hague Convention.
It is issued by a designated authority and is valid only between countries that are parties to the Convention.
In short:
  • Apostille = simplified procedure (Hague Convention countries)
  • Legalization = full procedure (non-Convention countries)

❓ What is the difference between a sworn translation and a certified translation in Italy?

In Italy, a certified translation is a translation accompanied by a signed statement from the translator confirming that the translation is accurate and complete.
A sworn translation (also known as asseverated translation) goes one step further: the translator formally swears to the accuracy of the translation before a court or authorized authority. The translation becomes an official legal document.
Both types may be required depending on the authority and the purpose of the document.
As a qualified legal translator, I am authorized to provide both certified and sworn translations in accordance with Italian legal requirements.

❓ Cos’è l’apostille e quando possiamo occuparcene?

An apostille is a certification that makes an Italian public document valid for use abroad in countries that are parties to the Hague Convention.
I can handle the apostille or legalization procedure (if the destination country is not a party to the Convention) only for Italian documents intended for use abroad, together with the related translation.
Documents issued abroad must instead be apostilled or legalized in their country of origin before they can be used in Italy, and therefore before we can translate them.
