After working in Dublin for an important American company while attending evening classes at Dublin City University, and after short stays in England and France, she returned to Italy where she graduated with honours in Foreign Languages from the University of Catania. She started working in the foreign commercial office of two large Sicilian companies, gaining valuable experience in the commercial field, managing daily correspondence with international customers, drafting and translating commercial documents and sales contracts, meeting foreign customers during frequent international travel and trade fairs in Europe and the United States.
The practical experience has always been accompanied by in-depth specific training in the field of translation of legal-commercial documents. Roberta also passed the Toles advanced legal English exam and obtained the relevant certification.
Her specialization in legal translation also concerns the juridical field; she attended a juridical-legal translation laboratory in Milan run by A. Grasso and S. De Palma and collaborated for many years with judges and prosecutors on the translation of legal acts.
Beyond the legal sphere, she translated a website dedicated to a brand of small kitchen appliances and a manual for internal use on corporate safety standards. She then also studied foreign languages in relation to the tourism sector. Indeed, she obtained the tourist guide licence for French and English following an exam, and she also obtained the certification in teaching Italian to foreigners issued by the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
She currently works as a freelance translator from English and French into Italian, specializing in the legal field, both legal and commercial, she uses the latest CAT tools for her translation projects and is constantly training and updating her knowledge with experts in the field.
